Jobscan

Jobscan is a resume checker: it compares your resume with a job ad, gives a match rate and shows which skills and keywords are missing, then helps you fix them with AI suggestions. It also has a free resume builder, a job tracker with a Chrome extension, LinkedIn profile scoring, cover letters and paid add-ons that apply to jobs or run practice interviews.

What can you do with Jobscan?

Check your resume against a job ad

Upload your resume, paste a job ad and the resume scanner returns a match rate with the hard and soft skills you're missing, plus “ATS & recruiter findings” about format and sections that an ATS or a recruiter may stumble on. The match rate is Jobscan's own measure of how closely your resume matches the ad before you apply; Jobscan itself notes that an ATS doesn't score your resume when you submit it. Jobscan suggests aiming for 75%. You see the results only after creating an account.

On the free plan the report hides the missing skills the ad mentions most: in our scan the top three hard skills and three soft skills were blurred until you upgrade. Users also repeatedly say the matching is literal, so a skill worded differently from the ad counts as missing. In our PDF scan the personal format check wasn't available: Jobscan asked for a .docx and showed general tips instead.

Free: 5 scans a month, unused ones carry over up to 5 Premium: unlimited scans and findings

Rewrite it with AI suggestions

AI Optimize goes through the skills the job asks for and suggests edits you accept or reject one by one, with a side-by-side view of the changes. A generator writes bullet points for a given skill, and a cover letter generator drafts a letter from your resume and the ad. Jobscan marks AI Optimize and the bullet generator as desktop only. On the free account, AI Optimize opens a trial offer instead.

Users repeatedly say the AI text comes out stiff or wordy, or misreads technical terms, and needs editing before you send it.

Premium or the 7-day trial

Build a resume from a template

The ATS resume builder has 9 templates designed to be read by hiring software. It imported our test resume and walked us through each section; on the free account it also wrote a summary and suggested skills, and the finished resume downloaded as PDF and as Word, without a watermark. AI suggestions for each job's bullet points stay blurred until you upgrade.

The imported resume grew from two pages to three, because each company became its own section heading; check the layout before sending.

Free: builder, generated summary, PDF and Word downloadsPremium: AI bullet suggestions

Improve your LinkedIn profile

The LinkedIn optimizer scores your headline, summary and experience against at least three job ads, suggests keywords and can write a headline and summary. On our free account a scan against one job ad gave a score with checks of basic details and the headline; the parts on work experience, skills, education and tips stayed blurred. The full optimizer is listed for Premium and isn't part of the free trial: to unlock the full LinkedIn scan during the trial you have to opt out of it, which, Jobscan says, charges the 3-month plan at once (help center).

Free: score, basic details and headlinePremium, after the trial: full report

Track applications and find jobs

The job tracker keeps applications, interviews, contacts and notes on a board; its Chrome extension saves jobs from boards such as LinkedIn, Indeed and Glassdoor. Next to the board, AI Job Match lists jobs matched to your resume as Top or Good Match; Jobscan doesn't say which countries or sources they come from, but for our account in Poland they were jobs in Poland. On the free plan the first two Top Matches were blurred and the rest were visible. A job you scan is saved to the board with its match rate.

Apply with Auto Apply

Marked new in October 2026. Auto Apply finds jobs on Greenhouse, Lever, Workable and other hiring systems and drafts answers for each application; Jobscan says you preview and confirm each one before it goes out; which email address the applications use isn't confirmed. Each job uses one credit; packs are sold to free accounts too.

Credit packs, also without PremiumPremium: 2 credits a month after the trialApplying not tested by us

Practice interviews

AI Interview Practice asks questions based on your resume and the job, by video or audio, then comments on pace, filler words and tone and suggests better answers. It's a separate subscription with unlimited sessions; the price appears only inside the app.

Add-on: $14.99 a monthNot tested by us

Free plan & pricing

The free plan has no time limit and doesn't need a card. Premium is billed every month or every 3 months; only the 3-month plan comes with a 7-day free trial. Auto Apply credits and Interview Practice are sold separately, also to free accounts, with 20% off for Premium members.

Before you pay

  • What you're chargedEach Premium period is charged at once: the 3-month plan, shown as $29.98 per month, costs $89.95 upfront. Sales tax is added based on your billing address; payment is by card in US dollars.
  • Free trialOnly on the 3-month plan, and it needs a card and billing address. Checkout shows $0 due today and says you'll be billed $89.95 after the trial and every 3 months, without naming the date (); the help center adds a $1 authorisation hold at sign-up (help center). Check the date your trial ends: users repeatedly report charges during or right after it.
  • RefundsFor Premium, only in a narrow case. Jobscan's cancellation policy says a Premium refund is possible only if you email support within 2 calendar days of a billing period starting and haven't used Jobscan in that period, minus a 3.5% fee, decided case by case. On the 3-month plan that fee would be about $3. Cancelling doesn't request a refund, and the Terms of Service don't mention refunds at all. We couldn't confirm separate refund terms for credit packs and Interview Practice.
  • Renewal and cancellationPremium and Interview Practice renew automatically until you cancel; credit packs are one-time. Jobscan says you cancel with the Cancel Plan button on the Account Details page, or by email (help center); Premium stays until the end of the paid period. After that you lose the paid features and, according to the plan page, the data tied to them. Users repeatedly report renewals they didn't expect, including after they thought they had cancelled.

What users say

Jobscan platform

4.3/ 5 on Trustpilot
  • 345 reviews, 76 of them from the past 12 months
  • Most recent 5-star reviews came through Jobscan's review link
  • Jobscan replies to most reviews, positive and negative

Extension

Chrome extension44 ratings4.3

This rates the free job tracker extension; the store lists 20,000 users. Only three reviews are from the past 12 months, too few to judge; the latest, in May 2026, says it didn't fill in job details from LinkedIn. Checked October 14, 2026.

What people like

  • It shows which keywords and skills the job ad has and your resume lacks
  • More interviews, or a job, after tailoring each resume
  • It's easy to use
  • You accept or reject each AI edit
  • The format check catches layouts hiring software can't read (Reddit)

What people complain about

  • AI text that's stiff, wordy or wrong and needs editing (also in positive reviews)
  • Renewals they didn't expect, including after they thought they had cancelled
  • Charges during or right after the free trial
  • Matching is literal: differently worded skills count as missing
  • A higher match rate didn't bring more callbacks for those who tracked it (Reddit)

Themes mentioned at least three times in our analysis of Trustpilot reviews from the past 12 months and of Reddit threads from the same period (r/ResumeTips, r/jobsearchhacks, r/Career), with the same rules for praise and complaints; posts by competing tools aren't counted.

What Jobscan promises

On its site: “3x more interview callbacks”, cutting job search time “in half”, “over 10+ million job seekers” on the About page and “1,000,000+ job seekers” on the plan page, users hired at Apple, Google, Amazon and other large companies, and checks against iCIMS, Lever, Greenhouse, Taleo and other hiring systems. We haven't verified any of these.

What information Jobscan asks for

Your resume and the job ads you scan, your LinkedIn profile URL for the LinkedIn optimizer, and a card for the trial or Premium. Jobscan says it doesn't share data with recruiters; deleting your account takes an email request (help center).

FAQ

Is Jobscan free?

Partly. The free plan gives 5 resume scans a month (the most frequent missing skills are hidden), the resume builder with PDF and Word downloads, and the job tracker with its Chrome extension, with no time limit and no card. AI Optimize, cover letters and the full LinkedIn report need Premium.

How much does Jobscan Premium cost?

$49.95 every month or $89.95 every 3 months, as shown on October 14, 2026. Auto Apply credits and Interview Practice ($14.99 a month) cost extra.

How does the free trial work?

It comes only with the 3-month plan and needs a card. If you don't cancel within 7 days, you're charged $89.95.

Can I get a refund?

For Premium, only in a narrow case: according to Jobscan's cancellation policy, you ask within 2 calendar days of a billing period starting, haven't used Jobscan in that period, and pay a 3.5% fee; requests are decided case by case. We couldn't confirm separate refund terms for credits and Interview Practice.

Can I download my resume for free?

Yes. On our free account the resume builder downloaded the resume as PDF and as Word, without a watermark.
