What can you do with Wellfound?

Search startup and tech jobs

Search by job title and location; Wellfound lists filters for remote work, company stage, industry and role, and you can save a search and get new jobs by email daily or weekly. Listings show the salary range on most jobs, often equity, the company's size and labels such as Actively hiring, Recruiter recently active or Responds within a few days. Job pages open without an account. Search hides jobs that don't accept applicants from where you are, and a tick box hides jobs that send you to the company's website.

Engineering jobs far outnumber others: in the US a Software Engineer search returned about 7,500 jobs, a Digital Marketing Manager search about 340. The default Recommended sort puts companies marked Promoted, which pay Wellfound for visibility, near the top. ·

Apply with your profile and a note

Your profile is the application. Apply opens a short form that names the company's hiring contact and asks for a note, which Wellfound compares to a cover letter; Send application shares your profile and resume, and you cannot undo it. Some jobs are applied for on the company's own site instead. The Applied section shows each application's status, and companies answer in Messages.

Wellfound caps the number of active applications you can have at once but doesn't publish the number. An application the company hasn't acted on expires after about two weeks, on the following Thursday, which frees a slot, and you see a warning when your years of experience are below a job's requirement.

Let companies find you

Founders and recruiters search profiles on Wellfound and can message you. Your search status decides who sees your Jobs Profile, the one recruiters see in search and with your applications: Ready to interview and Open to offers show it to startups; Closed to offers hides it, and then no company can contact you. Your Public Profile with your work history stays visible either way but doesn't say you're looking. Wellfound hides your Jobs Profile from your current employer only if that job in your profile is linked to the company's page on Wellfound and marked I currently work here. Recruiters can't find a new profile until it's complete; a new account opens with a list of the missing steps. You can also apply for Featured, an eight-week spotlight to companies; Wellfound selects who gets it. ·

Record an AI interview

Beta

The AI interview is a video call of under 15 minutes in which an AI interviewer asks general screening questions. You record it once, can redo the whole session but not single answers, and choose for each application whether to attach it; people at the company review it. Wellfound says applications with an interview are shown first. Wellfound says it isn't open to every candidate yet; a new US account had it in October 2026.

What Wellfound promises

Pages for job seekers: “27,000+ startups hiring”, “10M+ candidates” and “100K+ hires made”. The jobs page says “Over 130K remote & local startup jobs”; a search with no filters in our US-based free account showed 38,709 results the same day, with jobs closed to applicants from the US hidden; the two counts may cover different things, and we didn't establish why they differ. Featured candidates make “about 3x more connections”, and applications with an AI interview “go to the front of the line”. No method is given for these figures, and we haven't measured them.

What information Wellfound asks for

Sign-up asks where you're based, your current role and years of experience, whether you're a student, where you work now (the form says your company will never see you're looking; the help center adds that this works when the job is linked to the company's page and marked as current) and, optionally, LinkedIn and a website; then your search status, job type, desired salary (“never shown on your public profile”), roles, locations and US work authorisation, a short description of what you want next and your resume. The AI interview records video and sound. The Privacy Policy (effective November 13, 2023) lists interviewing information but says nothing specific about these recordings, how long they're kept or AI training; the help center says a company sees the interview only when you attach it to an application.

The same day we created a free account with a test profile located in the US, looked through sign-up, recommended jobs and search, and opened the application form.
